Kriya shareera

Modern medicine has made several technological advancements and thereby manages many medical emergencies with ease.

However the germ theory of modern medicine limits it from adopting a holistic approach.

Understanding the human body is a vital part of any medical course. Study of Human body with respect to the structure and functioning is an inevitable part of the course. Kriya shareera comprises of the functional aspects of human body. Ayurvedic understanding of physiology is based completely on the principles of Dosa(bioenrgies), dhatu(tissues), Mala(waste). This forms the basis for the disease diagnosis along with the preventive and restorative management of heath. We also expose the students to the current understanding of physiology in contemporary science.

– Department of Kriya shareera is attached with a spacious lab with individual working space for smooth conduction of practicals.
– At a time accommodation of 50 students exposing them to practical sessions.
– Sufficient teaching faculty and lab assistants to help them perform individually.
– Sufficient quantity of instruments available for usage of each pupil.

Dr Sandeep Bekal R has been an admirer and practitioner of Ayurveda since his induction into the field of Ayurveda. He is guided by the philosophy of practice first preach next. His strong faith in Ayurveda stems from self-practice. During his postgraduate days he worked extensively on Knee joint arthritis. The treatment protocol included both external and internal measures to relive the joint pain and stiffness. The highlight of the treatment however was the use of leeches in pain management which won him a lot of recognition.

He is presently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Shareera Kriya, Sharada Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Thalapady. He completed his BAMS in 2016 from Alvas Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Moodbidri and MD (Ayu) in the year 2019 from Alvas Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Moodbidri. He has published various articles in different Journals, has been a resource person for various health programs. He has been a eminent spoke person on different health camps in educating the public.
